Internet use has become more common these days. Looking at the details of broadband internet in my telephone bill last month, it was found that the households used 260 gigabytes of data this month. It can be understood that one gigabyte consists of 1024 megabytes. And 4 million pages can be saved on a 680 megabyte CD....

Now you can estimate for yourself how much data will be 260 gigabytes. It is also important to mention here that mobile phone is in addition to data. When we checked our mobile data, the usage of SMS, calls and internet was 23%, 12% and 77% respectively. Here too, a clear difference can be seen in the use of the Internet. In the financial year 2018-2019, the use of data on broadband networks was 2545 petabytes, which saw an increase of 113% compared to the year 2017-2018.

The department had deposited more than Rs 96 billion in the national exchequer in terms of taxes, duties and revenues. According to a recent statement by the State Bank of Pakistan, the Corona epidemic has significantly increased the trend of internet and mobile banking in the country. Internet and mobile banking are becoming an important means of meeting the daily banking and financial needs of consumers. Their growth is expected to continue in the next quarter. Apart from the banking sector, the Internet is also being used in other sectors, in which the education sector is prominent.

Schools, colleges and universities are using WhatsApp, Zoom and YouTube to keep their students engaged in educational activities. Where students do not have internet and other facilities, there are also demonstrations against online classes. As far as the world is concerned, according to the Global Web Index's 2018 survey, Internet users are online for an average of six hours a day. The survey was conducted in 34 countries. There are places where people stay online for an average of nine hours a day. These figures show a worldwide increase in internet usage due to lockdowns and being confined to people's homes.

When the lockdown started in Pakistan in March our suggestion was to make internet packages on mobile phones cheaper or free for a few months//
Millions of mobile users would be busy at home and this would definitely have a positive impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of lockdown but no such step was taken by the government and mobile companies.
However, companies have introduced mobile apps so that consumers can easily pay their bills get cards and apply for packages at home, meaning they have washed their hands in the flowing Ganges. Come on they didn't make their services cheap or free, but they should have changed the timing of the packages during this deadliest epidemic. It has been commonly observed that if calls SMS and internet packages are available at cheaper rates after dusk, they would be cheaper at least during the day so that consumers can not only avail it but also stay at home during lockdown.

At present, the number of mobile subscribers in the country is more than 165 million, which is about 80% of the total population, while 3G and 4G subscribers are 66 million basic telephone subscribers are 3 million and broadband subscribers are 78 million. According to the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority the number of mobile phone subscribers in 2007 and 2010 was 45 million and 102 million respectively.
Needless to say this is the only economy in the Corona epidemic that is not only standing on its own two feet but also flourishing. Remember that we are not talking about manufacturing and technology companies but we are talking about telecommunication service (ie internet, telephone, etc.)

Like other industries the mobile technology industry has also suffered. Pakistan used to import one million mobile phones from China every month for its customers but the industry was severely affected by Corona. It is hoped that the current budget will provide special incentives to boost mobile phone manufacturing. It is estimated that the epidemic could cost the world an estimated 8.5 trillion. Technology has suffered greatly around the world.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) Corona is set to take place in late February in Barcelona, Spain. The world's largest companies LG, Zaid TE, Ericsson, Sony and Amazon had refused to participate in the MWCT Twenty (2020) due to the threat of Corona epidemic. In the case of China, The Canton Festival, which began in March, has been postponed due to the disaster, which began in Wuhan. Last year, the festival saw deals worth .7 29.7 billion.

All these facts show that the mobile manufacturing industry has been badly affected by the Corona epidemic like any other industry while the telecommunication service has remained stable and profitable. Therefore, in the current worrisome situation in the country, they should play their full role in education and other sectors so that people can stay at home, keep social distance and take full advantage of telecommunication facilities...
